Okay, I swear I did not intend for this to become a "vanity site" of any sort, but until I do otherwise I guess it is what it is. (Trust me, I would be happy to promote any other companies/artists recent works/products, but to date I've only ever received one or two press-related releases: Alien Workshop and The High 5.) So on with me, me, me!
Last year, I was contacted by Element art director and Top 10 board artist of the 2000s, Todd Francis, about doing another commemorative graphic for Ray Barbee. It was to be a surprise for Ray, so I took a few elements from his previous Powell-Peralta graphics and capped off the Ragdoll's heavenly adventure last originally undertaken in December 1991 (but later reissued here with an unflattering truck placement). By coincidence or fate or whatever "plate of shrimp" have you, I ran into Ray at a holiday party this past December just before moving out of the country. The new "Ascension" board and graphic had just been unveiled to him earlier that day at Element, so he was super jazzed and we had a good time talking and reminiscing about old times—an awesome thing to still be able to do two decades after first meeting, working and skating together.
For those of you who could care less about sentiment and more about product specs, this board is available in both tongue-depressor and pool-ish shapes (similar in respect to the other Ray Barbee Element model released last year).
